Band with Fringe
Egyptian
A large, inwoven reddish-purple tapestry band runs across this textile fragment. Borders contain reverse scallop green vines whose points sprout a single leaf. The green vines may be created with supplementary wefts. The design in the main field of the band is indistinct, likely composed of animal motifs melding into one another; there is a discernable order to the motifs, which repeat. At the end of the band is a purple square with three flying nude putti holding birds. Two of the putti have orange drapery and hold orange birds, while the other has yellow. One edge of the fragment ends in fringe.
