Amulet of a Bull
Sumerian
Stone amulet from Jemdet Nasr, a city in Southern Mesopotamia and typesite for the period 3200-2900 B.C. in the shape of a recumbent bull. The stone is very worn but the shape of head and body are quite distinct. A circular hole is drilled horizontally through the bull, in the middle of the upper part of the amulet. The hole was probably intended for a cord to pass through, so that the amulet may be worn.
