Obv.:To l., Romanus I standing, facing, bearded, wearing traditional loros, with fringed ornamented end passing over r. arm, and crown with cross and pendilia. In r. hand, gl. cr.; l. hand extended. To r., Christ standing (Type IVa) facing bearded, wearing tunic and himation, with cross behind his head, holding book with l. hand in fold of himation, crowning Romanos with r. Rev.: To l., bust of Constantine VII facing, bearded, wearing loros and crown with cross. To r., bust of Christopher facing, bearded, wearing chlamys and crown with cross. Between them they hold patriarchal cross.
