Obv.: Christ seated facing, bearded, on wide lyre-backed throne, wearing tunic and himation, r. hand blessing inwards in sling of cloak, l. hand holding book (by spine) on knee Rev.: To l., figure of Constantine VII standing, beardless, wearing chlamys with tablion ornamented by cross and heavy crown with cross. In r. hand, gl. cr. To r., larger figure of Romanus I standing, bearded, wearing heavy crown with cross and loros whose fringed end, ornamented by + (with pellets at surrounding corners forming a square, passes over his l. arm. In r., gl. cr.. They stand on a souppedion and between them they hold shaft of long patriarchal cross.
