Small dish with lanceolate leaves

Small dish with lanceolate leaves

Islamic

The reddish earthenware of this dish is covered on the interior and partially on the exterior with a white slip. The interior holds a loosely incised design of two circles, each with double outlines, and a trio of radiating lanceolate leaves. Freely incised spirals fill the spaces between the leaves. The overall covering glaze is clear with a slightly greenish tinge and it carries stripes of 'color-splashed' green and brownish purple. The dish is shallow, with sides divided into straight, flaring segments. The low foot ring is slightly concave.
