Wall Painting Fragment

Red and brown pigment on white plaster. Red band with brown stripe. Samples of the pigments and plaster were taken and analyzed in the Straus Center in 2023. The results pointed to the following pigments/materials: gypsum for white; likely carbon black for black; kaolin, hematite, goethite, and gypsum (likely from the underlying layer) for red. The plaster was identified as gypsum plaster.
