Painted canvas fragment

Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and a white ground layer. The fragment has a partial turn edge and tacking margin with staple holes. The fragment is painted reddish orange up to the turn edge. There are accretions stuck to the paint surface. An inscription reading 'LV' has been applied with transparent black ink or paint.
