Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and no visible ground layer. Dark red paint is applied diagonally with respect to the canvas weave overall, with matte paint strokes over glossy ones. An area of raw canvas is visible through dry brush stroke. The fragment has a turn edge that is oriented diagonally with respect to the canvas weave.
