Painted canvas fragment

Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and no visible ground layer.Dark red paint, with matte and glossy areas, is applied diagonally with respect to the canvas weave. Fibers are adhered to glossy areas. The fragment has a turn edge, with red paint continuing over the edge and no staple or tack holes.
