Painted canvas fragment

Partially painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and no visible ground layer. Dark red paint, with matte and glossy areas, is applied diagonally with respect to the canvas weave. Fibers are adhered to glossy areas. Illegible inscriptions on the paint surface in transparent black ink or paint.
