Painted canvas fragment

Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges, diagonal with respect to the canvas weave. Dark red paint, with matte and glossy areas and scattered drips in the matte areas, over a white ground layer. Fibers and other accretions are adhered to glossy areas.
