Painted canvas fragment

Partially painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and no visible ground layer. Dark red paint, with matte and glossy areas and a dry brush passage, is applied diagonally with respect to the canvas weave. Various accretions are adhered to the paint surface.
