Painted canvas fragment

Partially painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment. The fragment has a white ground layer under a layer of dark red paint. The fragment has a turn edge and tacking margin with staple holes and staining. The tacking margin is oriented diagonally with respect to the canvas weave.
