Painted canvas fragment

Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges oriented diagonally with respect to the canvas weave. The fragment has a white ground layer under a layer of dark red paint, with matte and glossy areas. Fibers and other surface accretions are adhered to the paint surface.
