Untitled (Picnic on River Bank)

Untitled (Picnic on River Bank)

1882 - 1966

Nandalal Bose

Indian

Five figures sit on three mats spread along a river bank in this monochromatic ink painting. The pots and dishes placed about them suggest that a picnic is underway. A large stand of bamboo sweeps gracefully to the right, countering the leftward rhythms of the river.
