Simulated woven basket with liner

Simulated woven basket with liner

Chinese

Wide cylindrical openwork ceramic container with sides modeled as a lattice of crossed vertical straps joined by matching horizontal straps to form three tiers of slender lozenge-shaped openings, tapering slightly inward above the flat foot, pierced with an opening in the center of the unglazed base light gray stoneware with olive-green glaze; an interior liner of very similar form, made of silver straps woven into a diamond lattice continuing over a fragmentary base, but without the horizontal straps around the sides, the rim formed by a single horizontal strap of silver mounted by a small coiled silver band around the lip.
