Man Folding Dupatta

Man Folding Dupatta

born 1964

Annu Palakunnathu Matthew

American

A scene from an early Udaipur morning. A man folds a freshly dyed and dried headscarf. Two people stretch the Duppatta as it billows in the soft morning light, compositionally dividing the image in half. The man's bust is mirrored in his shadow on the scarf. A laundry sign is visible in the background, and the cement shines with water. The vignetting around the edges of the image evokes an ethereal and timeless mood.
