Macehead in the Form of a Lion

Sumerian white stone macehead in the form of an animal head, from the Jemdet Nasr period, 3rd millennium B.C.
Egg shaped white stone with 1.34cm vertical hole through the centre. One end of the stone is crudely carved with the mouth, nose and eyes of a lion. There is a very slight indentation under the chin and a delineating line between face and back of head.
