Plaque
Egyptian
Birds such as the ones surmounting this plaque were a popular motif in the 10-11th centuries both in Egypt and Iran. The plaque was probably used as a harness decoration and would have been sewn onto the leather. Similar openwork harness decorations and belt fittings have been excavated at Nishapur, in northeastern Iran.
