Tankard
1656 - 1712
? John Ruslen
British
Of plain slightly tapering cylindrical form on flat base, the tubular scroll handle with tab-form terminal; the hinged flat domed cover with reeded border and cast bifurcated corkscrew thumb-piece; the front engraved with a lozenge of arms within crossed plume mantling.
Tankards of this size appear to have been used by ladies. This is borne out by the fact that many of them are engraved with ladies’ arms, such as the present example.
