An Ascetic (Shri Ram Vallabhai) and Other Sketches

Indian

The largest figure on this page of sketches is a Hindu ascetic seated cross-legged with his hands clasped in front of him. He wears a beaded necklace. He bears a thin mustache. The ascetic’s head is shaved with the exception of a sikha, a tuft of hair on the top of the head worn by male orthodox Hindus. The remaining sketches include pairs of monkeys, a portrait of a female head, a cluster of lotus pads, another male figure with a disc-like hat, flowers, and a rocky outcrop with a deer or gazelle. Rajput Style.
