Drawing of a Seated Prince
Indian
Seated cross-legged on a bench is a prince. His status is distinguished by his pearl earring and the peacock feather fan on the left. An attendant is most likely holding the fan over the prince’s head, but the drawing has been cropped on both sides. The prince wears a turban and a long robe (jama). With his right hand, he plays with the crimped bottom edge of his robe. In front of the bench is a large spittoon. Rajput Style, Kota School.
