A Nath Ascetic in a Hut During a Monsoon

Attributed to The Kota Master

Indian

The drawing depicts an ascetic seated cross-legged inside a hut beneath a tree. The yogi’s distinctive, large earring identifies him as a member of the Hindu Nath order. In his right hand he holds a strand of prayer beads. Long, black, vertical lines indicate the heavy rain of a monsoon. Rajput Style, Kota School.
