Hunt Scene

Hunt Scene

Indian

The drawing features, on the right, a hunting enclosure that contains a male and female lion and a herd of deer. At the bottom of the page are two hunters behind a small screen. One holds up and aims a matchlock towards the enclosure. On the left is a large structure situated on the top of a tree. The structure supports a large group of hunters, some of which aim and fire their guns at the enclosure. At the bottom of the tree, which is enclosed by a large fence, are more hunters, armed with spears or matchlock guns. Next to the tree are a group of hunters that advance towards the animals with long spears. Rajput style, Kota school.
