Vase of Flowers Flanked by Two Cranes

Vase of Flowers Flanked by Two Cranes

Indian

At the center of the painting is a gold vase with an acanthus leaf design. Issuing from the vase is a large bouquet of flowers, some abstract depictions of irises, tulips, and marigolds. The bouquet is punctuated by leaves in various shapes and sizes. Flanking both sides of the vase are two white cranes and a scrolling-leaf-and-flower motif. The vase sits in a niche with a scalloped edge made up of gold acanthus leaves. The rest of the niche is decorated with scrolling leaves and purple flowers.
