Wounded Buck with Vignettes of Animals
Previously attributed to Abu’l Hasan
Mughal
A large buck stands in profile and faces to the left. Its symmetrical antlers curve inward above its head. The buck has a wound on its left shoulder, the blood runs down to the middle of its front left leg. Five small vignettes that feature different bovidae, mostly sheep and goats, among flowers and against a gold background are pasted onto the painting. At the bottom right is a pair of nilgai, a type of antelope native to the Indian subcontinent. Mughal Style.
