Colonel G.B. Malleson
Indian
Depicted in profile and facing left is a male figure, identified by the Hindi inscription at the top as “Malleson”. This refers to George Bruce Malleson (b. 1825-1868), who was an English officer stationed in India as well as an author. He wears a blue officer’s cap and jacket, as well as white gloves. He has a large, prominent nose, large ears, and is bearded. His right hand is held up, while he points with his lowered left hand.
