Portrait of a Nobleman

Portrait of a Nobleman

Indian

At the center is a portrait of a nobleman with a thick, dark, full beard. He faces right and wears a turban and a jama (robe) with a sash tied at the waist. Tucked into his sash is a chilanum, a type of dagger, and, on the other side, a talwar sword and shield. The sheath and scabbard of the dagger and sword respectively are highlighted with pink. The figure’s hands are clasped together in the front of his body. He wears slippers that are highlighted in pink. The portrait is surrounded by an outer border that is decorated with large gold arabesques with flowers and serrated leaves. At the top center of the border is a dark blue trefoil shape.
