Mounted Mysore Soldier with Flintlock Gun
Indian
The solider, mounted on a white horse with a dark mane and tail, carries a flintlock gun over his right shoulder. He wears a red hat, which is distinct to Mysore, a blue robe with white trim, and a yellow belt that cuts across his body from the right shoulder. Around his waist is a red sash and also a belt that consists of two brown utility pouches and one green nautilus shell-shaped gunpowder flask. The soldier sits on a decorative saddle blanket with red and yellow borders. On the left is a tree in partial view. The work was created in Tiruchirappali, Tamil Nadu, which specialized in this art form.
