Prince on a Terrace, Holding a Hookah Pipe

Leaning against a large, cylindrical, lilac cushion on a daybed, with his knees folded underneath him, is a young prince, distinguished by the black plume in his white turban and pearl earring. He wears a long, white, translucent robe (jama); green trousers; and a white and pink waist sash (patka). Tucked into his waist sash is a punch dagger (katar). The prince is also adorned with necklaces, bracelets, rings, and an armband. Across one shoulder is a pink strap that is connected to the sword (talwar) that hangs on the prince’s other side. Between his body and left arm is a large, black shield (dhal). The prince’s right hand sits in his lap, while his left holds up the hookah mouthpiece. The hookah base is on a green stand in front of the prince. Next to the prince’s right side is a red and gold quiver filled with arrows.
