Tent Doorway Cover (Ensi)

Typical Northern Ersari (or so-called Beshir) tent door cover, in standard 4 compartment design with large blossoms in each quadrant. Pile alem-like element at the bottom with motif continuing up sides.
Warp: 2 Z spun S plied undyed white cotton on one level. Wefts: 1 Z spun white or brown undyed wool; 2 parallel yarn pairs or 2 alternating yarn pairs per shoot. Pile: 2 or 3 Z spun S plied wool; yellow is 3 plies, other colors are 2 Pile colors: yellow, blue, pink, white, bright red, pink-red, dark blue, blue-green, bright yellow, white and brown (mildly corrosive in places). Knots: asymmetrical, open to the left. 35 knots per vertical decimeter. 30 knots per horizontal decimeter. Both selvedges reconstructed. Top end: cut and bound with cloth tape (later addition). Bottom end: 5 mm. brown wefted tapestry weave.
