Atalanta and Meleager

This tapestry shows the story of Meleager and Atalanta as narrated in Ovid's Metamorphoses (Met. 8:260-546). The composition is derived from Virgil Solis's woodcut illustration in the Metamorphoses Ovidii. The tapestry has the same borders at 1959.212 and 1959.213. Like the other works in the series, the tapestry was probably produced in Oudenaarde in the second half of the 17th century.
