Blue and red Kula prayer carpet, with architectural elements: column (with no bases), and a hanging lamp that has dissolved into a floral motif. Hyacinths and tulips.
Warp: 2 Z spun S plied undyed ivory wool; alternate warps slightly depressed. Weft: 1 Z spun in light red and undyed white; 2 or 2 parallel + 1 yarns per shot; lazy lines. Pile: 2 Z spun Z plied wool. Pile colors: dark red (heavily abrashed), pale yellow-green, pale yellow, light blue, dark blue, buff (original color possibly purple), purple-black, undyed white. Knots: symmetrical; knots per vertical decimeter: 34-41; knots per horizontal decimeter: 30-31; knots per square decimeter: 1020 - 1271. Both selvedges: repaired. Both ends: tapestry weave, stripped.
