Piriform Unguentarium

Piriform Unguentarium

Roman

Intact piriform unguentarium of red-orange clay. The mouth is a simple ring; the neck may once have been decorated with red slip. The body is bulbous but featureless, and the base is flat. A thin layer of dirt accretion covers much of the vessel.
