Painting of Farhad carving the mountain, pasted under a manuscript heading as an album page

Painting of Farhad carving the mountain, pasted under a manuscript heading as an album page

Persian

The painting is pasted under an illuminated heading of a manuscript. It is then set in several borders like an album page and then pasted on a cardboard with another text page from a manuscript of the Shahanama with four columns on the other side (section from the reign of Shah Gushtasp). The painting depicts Farhad who is shown carving the rocks, a story well known from Nizami's Khusraw and Shirin. On the upper right, "the work of Bihzad" is inscribed but this is not a credible attribution.
