Denarius (Coin) Depicting the God Apollo

85 BCE

Roman, minted in Rome

Italy

The front of this coin depicts the god Apollo, facing right and crowned with laurels.

On the back, a figure - likely the Etruscan god Vejovis, who was also associated with Apollo - is shown mounted on the mythical goat Amaltheus.
