Persian Garden

1965–66

Helen Frankenthaler (American, 1928-2011) printed by Ben A.J. Burns (American) published by Universal Limited Art Editions (American, founded 1955)

United States

The principal compositional element in Persian Garden was drawn by simply puddling the liquid tusche and letting it flow naturally over the stone’s porous surface. The effect mimics the “soak-stain” technique Frankenthaler had developed in her paintings.
