Audrey Brockbank (English, born 1938) London, England

London

Although known primarily as a painter, Audrey Brockbank created a series of ikat, or warp-dyed, weavings. In this work, she used the same soft palette of blues and oranges found in her watercolors for the narrow warp dyed stripes; these are very different from the large swaths of vivid color normally seen in Central Asian ikat fabrics.
