Under the supervision of Emperor Yongzheng, an avid porcelain aficionado himself, the Qing imperial workshop of the eighteenth century crafted some of the most exquisite and technically advanced pieces in Chinese history. Bearing the Yongzheng reign mark, this cup was delicately and evenly potted, its exterior covered with a lemon-yellow enamel. Such monochrome porcelain wares were favored by Emperor Yongzheng for their elegant simplicity and flawless surfaces, which not only showcased the artisans' technical finesse but also highlighted the exceptional tactile quality of porcelain.
