Box Fragment

300–750 CE

Teotihuacan Teotihuacan, Mexico

Valley of Mexico

This fragment was part of a rectangular wood box painted with several depictions of an ornately dressed male figure standing in profile. It shows the individual’s face with large oval eye, the lower portion of his feathered headdress, fabric-and-feather streamers that flow down his back, and a bundle of long feathers and plants that is held in his outstretched hand.
