Woman Reclining on Her Bed

c. 1885

Edgar Degas French, 1834-1917

France

This sensual nude is one of four similar works, each dedicated by Degas to a male friend. In this case, the friend was Philippe Burty, a great print collector and critic whose influence on the graphic arts in France in the late 19th century was unequaled.
