A barefooted Buddhist monk stands on top of a car surrounded by Vietnamese Buddhists as he addresses the crowd in downtown Saigon, South Vietnam. The monk spoke after services for Thich Quang Duc, a Buddhist monk who publicly burned himself to death in protest of alleged government persecution of Buddhists. The rally was followed by street fighting between demonstrators and policemen, June 16, 1963
