1878-1979
The papers concerning the Richard M. Skinner house in Princeton, Illinois, span the century from 1878 to 1978, during the period that the house was owned by the Skinner family. Documents detail the initial construction, including specifications and correspondence relating to some interior fixtures. In addition, the collection includes records of maintenance and improvements by the Skinners through the decades of ownership, and are a useful record of the techniques and practices of 19th- and early 20th-century merchants and tradesmen.
