Franz Lipp (1897-1996)
Born in Germany, Lipp immigrated to the United States after World War I to train at the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University and under the great American landscape architect Jens Jensen. Lipp settled in Chicago in the late 1920s and built a versatile practice designing landscape programs for commercial complexes, hospitals, schools, homes, and churches, collaborating with many of Chicago’s noted architectural firms. The Lipp collection includes photographs and slides, and an album documenting his professional career.
