Column-Krater (Mixing Bowl)

Attributed to the Painter of London E 489 Greek; Athens

Greece

On the front of this vase are four youths in himatia. On the left, the youth is facing right and gesturing with his left hand; next, a youth with a lyre is also facing to the right; then a youth gesturing strongly and raising his stick as he leans to the right but with feet out-turned; on the far right a final youth facing left, with a stick. On the other side are three youths also in himatia – that on the left faces right, that in the middle also right, that on the right faces left.
