Judy A. Seidman American, born 1951, active in Botswana and South Africa

South Africa

The nonprofit South African Literature Society (SALS) was formed to provide wider distribution of South African literature, particularly in Botswana and Zimbabwe. SALS looked to increase readership for South African writers in all of the country’s languages. In addition to selling texts at low prices, SALS developed a library of books and a “writer’s file” for unpublished works, to which individuals could contribute.
