Among the Olszewski works shown here, Fields is an outlier in that it depicts a physical or visual, rather than an emotional, experience or situation. For this work the artist was inspired by the dramatic landscape of Ireland's western coast, where he spent several summers. Fields portrays the look of the rough Irish countryside. It also represents an early foray into the technique of crocheting, whose depth and texture appeal to the artist.
