Grids are a recurring theme in Tigerman’s work. A reference to the modernist roots he is reacting against, the application ranges from surface treatment and lattice structures to the overall composition of a project. Rather than following the conventions of modernist architecture and fitting the project into a neat grid, Tigerman used the grid as a statement of divergence. In this model for the Knoll Corporate Park and Showroom, the grid is applied to the facade to emphasize the structure of the project. In the entry fence, a houselike form breaks the grid, reinforcing the structure of the distant building.
