Stanley Tigerman American, 1930–2019

United States

A runner-up in a competition for DOM Corporate Headquarters, this design integrates many themes inherent in Tigerman’s work. The cleaving down the center of the perfect cube on an east/west axis and the gridded structure wrapping the facade are nods to the modernist tradition that Tigerman is reacting against. The swirling, gridded facade rotated on the site is another reference to the tradition. While the cleave through the site’s two buildings speaks to the separation of administration and production, the facing glass facades create transparency between these two programs. These elements symmetrically order the site while also speaking to the internal structure of the company.
