United States
Created for the first exhibition of Chicago Seven, an iconic group of architects, at the Richard Gray Gallery in Chicago, Little House in the Clouds displays the symbolic gestures and formal language that define Stanley Tigerman’s architecture. Tigerman questions man’s relationship to nature through the tenuous connection of the house with the land while also referencing historical precedents from modernism such as Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye (1931) and Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House (1951). The partially mirrored facade reflects the image of man onto the building to reinforce his presence within the landscape.
